How We Source

We have two main methods of sourcing: through travelling around the world ourselves and through other importers. We rely on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, as well as the keen eye of our carefully selected European importers and designers who enable us to bring this exceptional collection to you.

The Birth of Lemonlu London

Once upon a time I fell in love with some stunning coasters in Lebanon, the type that I just never seemed to find in shops at home. The idea of setting up a shop to sell them gradually grew. That idea was not unique. I'd had many more like it during my travels, from Iran to Guatemala, Tanzania to Bhutan, wondering why such fantastic items just aren't easily available in the UK. I'm not talking souvenirs, but high quality, design-led products... beautiful items I would be proud to have in my home and whose stories I was just itching to share.

Roll on 2009 and what can only be described as the worst year of my life. My twin sister, Sarah, died of lung cancer at the ripe old age of 30 years and 3 days. The company I was working for collapsed and I moved out of the lovely home I had shared with Sarah. I was at a crossroads without signs, sat nav or map! From that year, and the realisation that life is too short for putting dreams and aspirations on hold, Lemonlu London was born.

Dedication

Lemonlu London is dedicated to the memory of my sweet sister, Sarah McBrien, a beautiful young woman with wings on her heels. Her inquisitive nature, love of travel and incredible courage in difficult times humbles me every day.

Named after Lemonlu - the crazy dwarf cat she adopted from a Palestinian refugee camp when we were living in Syria - and London - the city she loved to come home to - Lemonlu London is also a celebration of the incredible life I shared with my twin... travelling the world, experiencing other countries and cultures, generally having a blast along the way!

Her cheeky grin remains with me always.
