Item Summary

An elegant and refined Soap Dish inspired by the elaborate decorative floor tiles used in Middle Eastern houses in the early 20th century, often referred to as sejjadeh or carpets.

Other designs and colours available.

Item Story

We particularly love this collection of PVC pieces designed by Lebanese designer Peggy Raphael Dabar. Lebanon is constantly changing and many of the beautiful old buildings from which she draws inspiration are being replaced by modern apartment buildings. Her designs are a reminder of the beautiful heritage of this spectacular, complicated Mediterranean country.

The floor of Mediterranean residences of the 1930s and 1940s were covered with ceramic tiles of various patterns. These terrazo were unrivaled for their broad range of colours, arabesques and graphics. Put together, they created a gigantic picture, thus their nickname sejjadeh or carpet.
